Bay of Plenty Polytechnic was established in 1982 as the local Community College, providing training mainly in trades, horticulture, agriculture and business. Initially, the college tended to reflect the region, with one third of its student hours devoted to horticultural training.

The Polytechnic has come a long way since then, with over 12,000 students taking certificate, diploma and degree programmes in a range of areas, from animal care, sports and beauty therapy to business, computing and graphic design.

We invite you to enjoy the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic experience with us – a warm welcome awaits you.

Our logo

New Bay of Plenty Polytechnic LogoReflecting our Core Values

The vertical lines of the logo represent pathways for life-long learning that open out to form a welcoming gesture- welcoming students locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. This symbolic gesture incorporates our commitment to providing support to meet the cultural and learning needs of all students.

The small solid circle at the top of the logo completes the vertical lines to represent our individual personality and the role we play in nurturing, enabling, empowering and transforming our students.

The circle around the base of the vertical pathways symbolises both the natural and social environments that we operate– incorporating our campuses and unique coastal and regional natural environment.

The colour blue symbolises our unique location and climate – blue sky, coastal environment and enviable lifestyle.
