I have been working at the Polytechnic now for a couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It is such a great place to work and workout. I have over 13 years experience working in the sports and fitness industry and completed my studies in Ireland where I am originally from. I love to learn and working here allows me to keep up to speed with our fast changing industry and with the help of my team implement new ideas and initiatives for our valued members. My interests include running, golf, spinning and reading and I love watching or trying all sports.

She kept up her studies with Personal Training / Nutrition / Health & Wellness Coaching. At present she is completing papers to further her knowledge in the field of Nutrition. She has a great love/interest in the outdoor adventure.

Hi I’m Nicole, in 2010 I completed my Bachelor of Physical degree at the University of Otago and I also graduated at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in the cert for fitness course in 2011. Moving to the Bay of Plenty has been a awesome move for me as I love to run and do outdoor sporting activities. This place is like a big gym! In my spare time I love to go to the beach, gym or go for a run and I have competed in a few half marathons and am hoping to do the goat run this year. I am thrilled to be a part of the team here at the aquatic and fitness centre and looking forward to the challenges and the rewards the job will offer.

Megan joined the team at the start of 2007 when she was selected to fill the ‘Graduate’s Position’, after graduating from the National Certificate in Fitness 2006. She is a previous world champion in outrigger canoeing (Waka Ama), a mother, and a grandmother! She hopes to inspire people from all walks of life to consistently strive for wellness in all aspects of their lives.

I have been here at Te Pare A Ruahine since the end of 2010. Previous to my move here I was in the mighty Waikato where I completed all my schooling including a degree in Sports and Exercise Science at WINTEC. The shift over to the sunny Bay of Plenty was an easy decision as I love spending time in the surf, fishing, diving or giving any challenge a crack (bring on the Coast to Coast 2013). The opportunities our backdoor offers are endless. Here at the Aquatic and Fitness Centre I am lucky enough to be able to help others get the same buzz I do about getting and staying fit and healthy. The atmosphere around the place is great and the effort our diverse students and members put in is very motivational. Come get hooked!!

I completed my Bachelor of Sport and Leisure studies and Graduate diploma in Physical Education and health Teaching in 2006. I have since worked in a few different health and fitness facilities and have been living at The Mount for the last four years. I enjoy working with all types of people and love to help them towards their health and fitness goals. I have always enjoyed keeping fit and being involved with sports. I competed in equestrian for 20 years and now triathlons over the last two years mainly in long distance races and I recently completed my first Ironman.

Vince worked at the Aquatic Centre while completing his Degree of Sport and Recreation and has spent the last years working in Tauranga within the fitness industry. He teaches children to swim, teaches karate, and has worked at Tauranga Leisure Ltd taking kids for sports birthdays. He has bought a tree transplanting business a little while ago. “Call Vince if you want any trees moved this winter, as it is a great time to move trees for next summer’s shade.” :)

For the past 11/2 years she has been working at the BOPPoly Aquatic Centre part time in the evenings and weekends while being a full time student studying the Diploma in Sport and Recreation. Simone has had 9 years experience in the industry including outdoor recreation, corporate fitness and instructing in gyms. She believes health and fitness enhances every aspect of your wellbeing.
