How Do I?

Welcome to the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic Library. The library offers you similar services available to on-campus students.

Locating Material

Use the links from the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic library website to access the:

• Catalogue for finding items currently held by the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic library including journals, books, and e-books
• Journal databases for finding articles from journals, magazines and newspapers. Many of the journals contain full-text articles

Requesting Material

The library will courier material free of charge within New Zealand.  International requests may be available for a small fee. The library will supply material you have identified specifically or by subject. You can request material by:

• emailing libraryrequests@boppoly.ac.nz or,
• calling 0800 BOPPOLY (0800 2677659) during business hours:
  ext. 5525 for School of Business Studies students 
  ext. 6843 for School of Applied Science, School of Applied Technology, School of Design & Humanities students.

When requesting help or material please include your name, ID number, and as much of the following information as possible:

• Books: author, title, publisher and date of publication
• Articles: journal name, volume and issue number, article title, author of the article and pagination
• Subject requests: be as specific as possible about the information you need

If you can’t find items that you need in our library we may be able to interloan it for you from another library. Find more information about interloans.

Borrowing

• You can borrow up to 50 items at any one time
• Items must be returned within the allocated borrowing period, or renewed so long as there is not a hold or recall in place
• Overdue charges will be applied to recalled items that are returned late. Find out more about borrowing and fines.

Your Account

You can check your library account and renew items by accessing My Account via the library catalogue, or by sending an email to libraryrequests@boppoly.ac.nz

Help Using the Library

Please contact the liaison librarian for your school if you would like help using the library resources, or one of the library staff for the Polytechnic

Costs

• Books – the library pays both outward and return postage costs
• Overdue charges - find out more about overdue charges
• Photocopying costs 10 cents per page. The cost of this will be added to your borrower record
• Interloans – costs vary from free to $20 per item

Any payments can be made by cheque payable to Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and sent to the address below. Please include your name, ID, and details of what payment is for.
