Fitness students get motivated with Steamers star

The Steamers are flying ahead this season in the ITM Cup Premiership and are currently top of the league, five points ahead of the closest competition, adding to the sport students’ enthusiasm for spending time with their sponsored player.
Pete Sommers, Group Leader Sport & Recreation, organised a question and answer session for the students so they had the opportunity to find out about the fitness and training programmes, motivation, goals and achievements of the Steamers, Chiefs and All Blacks player.
“It was wonderful for the students to hear from a top athlete about what he has gone through to achieve his goals,” said Pete. “‘Flash was very open about his life, his role models and his ambitions for the future, and everyone enjoyed the open question and answer session we had with him.”
The students gained an insight into what it is like to play rugby for Bay of Plenty Steamers, and learnt about the experience of becoming a sports professional.
Flash passed on his motivation tips and inspired students with his drive and passion for sport. “It’s great to be able to share my experiences with the students here and pass on what I have achieved in my career - if you put the hard yards in you can do it too,” Flash explained, adding that he “hopes that he can help students on their journey to achieving their goals, many of whom could be future sports stars themselves.”
The session also involved Flash leading a gym work with the students, closing with a high energy pump workout, much to everyone’s delight!
