Ivy back on track!

Ivy Ormsby thought she knew her way around a computer, until she studied business administration that is!
Enrolling onto Bay of Plenty Polytechnic’s 17 week Business Administration and Computing programme gave Ivy the skills to prepare her for a variety of administration roles – in fact, she did so well she received an administration internship with the Polytechnic’s School of Business.
Ivy now has the confidence and skills to prepare business letters and other forms of formal business writing, use many different Microsoft applications (including designing Power-Point presentations), undertake computerised accounting duties and completing other essential administrative duties.
Ivy says the programme gave her a real confidence boost and set her up with skills to become a valuable employee. “I had been on parental leave and out of the work force for a few years. I struggled to find work again and thought this programme would be good for me to get back out there and prove to employers that I had the right skills and qualification for the job.”
“My CV looks so much better now and I have the right techniques to effectively sell myself in the job market.”
The Polytechnic has been so impressed with the skills Ivy has brought to their administration team that it was no great surprise when she won a coveted PA position in the School of Business. Well done Ivy!
