Bachelor of Business Analysis - Financial (BBA (Fin))

Delivered in Partnership with the University of Waikato.

If you're interested in a career as an accountant, economist, financial anaylst, or in sharebroking or banking, this course of study offers a professionally recognised degree.

You'll gain a sound understanding of accounting, finance and economics, and in Tauranga you can choose either accounting or finance as your major. Completing the New Zealand Diploma in Business with a B grade average will give you up to 10 papers towards the 20 required for the BBA (Fin).

Content Details

The BBA (Fin) requires you to complete 20 papers studying full-time over three years or the equivalent time for part-time study. You will require a B grade average, and a minimum B grade for papers 510 and 560 (if taken), to guarantee credit towards the BBA (Fin).

Entry

If you are under 20 years of age you must have:

  • A minimum of 14 numeracy credits at level 1 or higher in mathematics or Pangarau on the National Qualifications Framework
  • 50 credits at level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in each of 3 subjects including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Mäori; 4 credits must  be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. The literacy credits will be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards
  • or, equivalent to the above.

If you are over 20 years of age this requirement may be waived. The selection process may include an information evening. The group leader may allow students discretionary entry on a case-by-case basis, if they are satisfied that the student has the necessary skills and support to succeed in the programme.

The Group Leader, New Zealand Diploma in Business, may allow students on a case-by-case basis, discretionary entry if satisfied that the student has the necessary skills and support to succeed in the programme.

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 550.

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

Upon successful completion of the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic papers you will be awarded the

  • New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 6

With a B grade average, and a minimum B grade for papers 510 and 560 (if taken), you are guaranteed full paper credit to the University of Waikato’s BBA (Fin) degree. Upon successful  completion of the entire programme you will receive from the University of Waikato, the Bachelor of Business Analysis – Financial.
