This course of study develops your career as an intermediate IT professional with opportunities ranging from software programming and web development to network administration.

Gain knowledge and skills in programming, hardware and operating systems, data communications and multimedia applications.

Certain papers can be credited to the second year of the University of Waikato's Bachelor of Science (BSc).

Content Details

To complete the qualification you'll need to complete 120 credits. As a full-time student you'll need to choose three 20 credit courses in both semesters.

These four courses will prepare you to take the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) exam.

Entry

  • Diploma in Applied Computing Level 5 (DipAppCompL5)
  • or, successful completion of other equivalent Level 5 programmes or qualifications , which are determined by cross credits or assessment of prior learning (APL )
  • or, other qualification that would be assessed on a case-by-case basis

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 550.

Indicative Fees

  • $763 per 20 credit course, incl. course related costs
  • $572 per 15 credit course

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

Upon successful completion of the programme you will receive:

  • Diploma in Applied Computing Level 6
