National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrician for Registration) Level 4

If you're already working in the electrical industry, this course of study will support your development for registration as an electrician. You'll learn all the practical skills and theoretical knowledge prescribed by the Electrotechnology Industry Training Organisation (ETITO) and Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).

The programme covers all off-job units included included in Electrical Engineering Level 2, Electrical Engineering 3, and Electrical Engineering 4, plus all the information required for you to sit the electrical registration exams.

Content Details

It is expected that you will study both theory and practical subjects at the relevant level.

Practical Block Courses
If you already have some credits you may not need to attend all classes. We will advise you which two block courses you have been allocated and the dates to attend once your  enrolment has been confirmed.

The Level 2 course includes a one day practical first aid course to achieve unit standards 6401 and 6402. If you don't already hold a current Practical First Aid certificate you may be required  to attend another day outside of the one week block course.

Entry

As directed by the ETITO, students must be employed in the electrical industry. 

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 500.

Indicative Fees

  • $2,204 - Level 2, incl. course related costs
  • $2,190 - Level 3, incl. course related costs
  • $2,062 - Level 4, incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

Upon successful completion of the programme you'll gain units towards the National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrician for Registration) Level 4.
