AS/NZS2980 Welding Ticket

This course of study gives you the skills you need to obtain or renew your AS/NZS2980 welding certification.

This programme covers all positional welding in Arc/MIG with instruction in the correct examination technique. The course runs over four evenings and includes a final examination. AS/NZS2980 is the qualification you need for industry. This new standard replaces the NZS4711.

Content Details

This programme concentrates on preparing you to attain your AS/NZS2980 welding ticket.

The ticket is valid for two years, provided the welding supervisor or the employer can confirm the welder has been working within the range of the qualification and  continues to produce welds of acceptable quality. This will be confirmed and recorded on the certificate every six months.

Entry

You must be a competent welder and should be working within the engineering industry. You must also have prior knowledge and experience in the welding process and position you  wish to be tested on. You must supply your own overalls and safety footwear, and wear them in the workshop.

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 500.

Indicative Fees

  • One position $595 incl. course related costs
  • Additional position $185 each (prior approval required for 3 positions)

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.
