Basic Arc/MIG and Gas Welding

This course of study introduces and enhances welding skills for the hobbyist, agriculturist, farmer or career-directed trainee.

The programme covers setting up procedures, the selection and use of electrodes/ shielding gases, basic techniques for down-hand welding and positional welding.

  • Basic techniques for downhand welding
  • Oxy acetylene bronze welding and fusion welding techniques on mild steel

Entry

Open entry. You must supply your own overalls and safety footwear, and wear them in the workshop.

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 500.

Indicative Fees

  • $455 incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

Upon successful completion of the programme you will receive a Student Profile indicating attendance.

NOTE: This course does not prepare you for the industry level welding ticket.
