Bachelor of Design (Fashion)

Delivered in Partnership with Otago Polytechnic.

There's no need to leave Tauranga to get your degree. Cross credit the Diploma in Design (Fashion) Level 6 into Otago Polytechnic's Bachelor of Design (Fashion) and complete just one more year of study to gain your degree.

You'll take courses in strategic design in an interdisciplinary studio and two fashion studios to develop professional level design and technical production skills.

Content Details

Strategic Design
Develop an understanding of the professional and strategic requirements of the design industry. You'll extend your professional research techniques and critical reflection skills to define your personal design philosophy and potential career pathways upon graduation.

Interdisciplinary Studio
You'll further explore design perspectives and approaches that will enhance your discipline-specific learning through either an individual or team-based integrated project.

Fashion Design Studio 5
Develop your own brief for a directional collection. You'll research and develop ideas that will require analysis, transformation and evaluation resulting in a creative end product, suitable for a design award.

Fashion Design Studio 6
This course gives you the opportunity to demonstrate that you've achieved a professional level of fashion design and technical production skills. It involves you in a major body of independent work that requires command of highly specialised design and technical knowledge, including considerable research across the discipline.

Indicative Fees

  • Fees are set by Otago Polytechnic and are payable to them with enrolment.

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.
