Enter the exciting world of fashion and work as a designer, pattern drafter, buyer or production assistant/manager. Graduates have a comprehensive grounding in all aspects of the fashion industry with hands-on experience in fashion production from concept to finished garment.

Join our award-winning fashion design team to unleash your creative potential. From initial concept to finished garment, you'll study courses in design theory, pattern making, textiles, garment construction and styling, and then take it all to the catwalk.

Our students are regularly seen on winners' podiums around New Zealand including Pasifika and WoW, as well as launching successful labels or going on to work for famous labels like Moochi, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester and more!

Programme Handbook

Diploma in Design (Fashion) Level 6

Entry

The minimum requirements for entry into this programme is NCEA Level 2. Recommended subjects include textiles technology, art, design.

Portfolio
All applicants must be able to demonstrate qualities required for this programme, including: basic drawing ability, creativity and enthusiasm.

All applicants will be required to present a portfolio (no larger than A3) containing a representative sample of their work reflecting their ability and potential. These can be originals, photographs or digital examples of own work, and should include working drawings as well as final pieces.

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 550.

Indicative Fees

  • $6,048 Year 1, incl. course related costs
  • $5,972 Year 2, incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.
