Keep yourself safe. Learn skills for responsible use of your chainsaw.

We have two courses on offer. The one day course is for people who have had some experience using a chainsaw, while the five day course is for those who have had no experience.

Content Details

One Day Course - Operate a Chainsaw Safely
On successful completion of the course you'll be able to:

  • Select and use protective equipment
  • Check a chainsaw is in safe working condition
  • Operate a chainsaw effectively.

There will be a practical assessment and a written assessment on safety.

Five Day Course - Chainsaw Safety and Operation
We'll teach you everything you need to know, right from the very basics.

As well as covering everything from the one day course, we'll go into much more detail. You'll get the chance to practice using a chainsaw so that you can gain effective skills and reduce the likelihood of injury.

There will be practical and written assessments.

Entry

One Day Course
It is preferable that you have used a chainsaw previously.

Five Day Course
This course is designed for those who have no, or little, previous experience using a chainsaw.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 500.

Indicative Fees

  • 1 Day Course: $360
  • 5 Day Course: $732

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

One Day Course
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive an achievement record.

Five Day Course
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive an achievement record and a profile identifying unit standards 6916 and 6917.
