Certificate in Maritime & Fishing Technology Level 3

If a life on the sea is the life for you this course of study could be just the ticket. The programme is designed to develop the skills you need to work as a deckhand on a wide range of sea vessels within the maritime and seafood industry including charter, aquaculture and fishing boats.

You'll enjoy several weeks of work experience on a real working fishing boat, and once you complete the programme the required sea service towards Maritime New Zealand’s Advanced Deckhand with Fishing Endorsement is reduced.

Entry

Refer to the programme brochure for guidance about school subjects that would help you succeed in this programme.

You must be at least 16 years of age and must declare any medical conditions that may preclude you from completing the sea-time component of the programme.

Indicative Fees

  • $1,667 incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.
