If you're currently working as a deckhand on a commercial vessel, but don’t have a qualification, then this course is for you.
The programme is taught by distance learning (correspondence), which means you can continue to work while you study. You have up to 28 weeks to complete four modules by working through theory-based task books, and practical assessments which are to be signed-off by your captain. You will also be required to attend a week of practical training and assessment at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in Tauranga.
