Diploma in Tourism (Travel Management) Level 5

The Diploma in Tourism focuses on the skills and application of management in tourism and specialist roles. It's the ideal qualification if you're looking to gain a senior position in the tourism and travel industry.

You'll enjoy a number of field trips, discover a variety of tourism and travel operations and put your skills and knowledge to the test.

You will learn about managerial, decision making and leadership aspects of the tourism and travel industry and develop independent research skills which will be required when working as a key player in the industry.

This programme is the ideal pathway to supervisory and management positions in the tourism and travel industry and some courses credit towards the University of Waikato's Bachelor of Tourism.

Specialist courses will provide you with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of travel agency management and airline ticketing, along with an understanding of the tourism industry. This endorsement incorporates our IATA approved Fares and Ticketing courses and the National Certificate in Travel Level 4.

Field Trip
You’ll also participate and arrange a short field trip for the class. Past excursions have taken us anywhere from Queenstown to 90 Mile Beach. The trip  includes talks given by industry professionals as well as providing you with the opportunity to visit and inspect important components of the industry.

 

Entry

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 550.

Indicative Fees

  • $5,820, incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.

Qualifications Gained

  • Diploma in Tourism endorsed in Travel Management
  • National Certificate in Travel Level 4
  • International Air Transportation Association (IATA) Certificate
