National Certificate in Hospitality (Front Office) Level 3

Want to work in the exciting world of hospitality? Obtain the knowledge and skills you need for employment in the front office of hotels and accommodation providers. This programme also prepares you for further study towards more advanced travel and hospitality qualifications.

You'll gain a range of interpersonal presentation and customer service skills. The programme also covers courses in reception, operating a booking system, handling foreign exchange, concierge services and health and security procedures.

Content Details

Employment Relationships
This course covers employment relationships and the application of the law that pertains to that relationship. You will also work together in teams or groups in diverse workplace situations for the purposes of gathering ideas and sourcing information.

Front Office
You will learn to provide reception services, book accommodation, exchange foreign cash and travellers' cheques, and receive and action payments in a commercial accommodation
environment.

Customer Service
At the end of this course you will be able to demonstrate customer care, deal with customer complaints, provide a safe and secure environment for customers, use telephone systems, and deliver customer service for international visitors within the hospitality industry.

Hospitality Procedures
Learn all about the hospitality industry including information about specific establishments in the hospitality industry and the procedures to protect people and property.

Concierge Services
You will learn to provide concierge service in an accommodation environment.

Training Experience
You will be rostered on to reception duties that will provide you with experience in dealing with customer enquiries, directional information, and bookings for various events.

Industry Visits
As part of this programme you’ll participate in and arrange industry visits to hotels and other accommodation providers. The visits include talks given by industry professionals as well as providing you with the opportunity to inspect important components of the industry.

Entry

Open entry, however preference will be given to students who have completed the Introduction to Travel and Tourism Level 2, or can demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.

English Language Requirements If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation.

You will be required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 500.

Indicative Fees

  • $2,855 incl. course related costs

The standard published fee is applicable for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only.

An international fee is payable for non New Zealand citizens/permanent residents.
