Step 1. Application

All full-time programmes require an application. We take applications right up until the programme commences, although we'll give priority to applications received by the date stated in the programme brochure.

Many part-time programmes allow you to enrol direct. Check your programme brochure if you're unsure.

If you need an application form and haven't already got one, phone us straight away and we'll pop one in the post. Alternatively, you can collect one from our Information Centre or fill out the online application at the link below.

Step 2. Informal Meeting

You may be invited to attend an information meeting with the programe tutor/staff to view the facilities and discuss the programme in more detail. You are welcome to bring family or whanau support.

After a successful information meeting we'll send you a letter of acceptance offering you a place on the programme. Places are limited on most programmes and. Once limits are reached we run a waiting list.

Step 3. Enrolment

Along with your acceptance letter we'll send you an enrolment pack. If you're enrolling on a part-time programme that allows direct enrolment, just ask at our Information Centre for an enrolment form.

To enrol:

  • Complete the Student Detail and Enrolment Form
  • Provide enrolment documentation as detailed on the next page
  • Either advise that your fees will be paid direct to through the Student Loan Scheme, pay the $100 deposit or full fee, or provide evidence that WINZ have approved fee payment through the Training Incentive Allowance (Refer to the Payment of Fees section on page 4 ).
  • Return everything to us either by post or in person.

Enrolment Documentation

If you are enrolling in programme/s of more than 0.3 EFTs in any academic year (approximately 20 hours or more total duration), the Ministry of Education requires proof of your legal names, New Zealand citizenship/permanent residency and date of birth when you enrol.

Acceptable proof is:

  • A passport or birth certificate with the place of birth stated as New Zealand, Cook Islands, Tokelau or Niue or a birth certificate/passport showing Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

or

  • A passport or birth certificate and a New Zealand Certificate of Citizenship or permanent resident stamp in your passport.

We must see the original or a verified copy. A verified copy is a photocopy signed by a Justice of the Peace or solicitor who has seen the original document and checked that the photocopy is a genuine, unaltered copy.

If you have previously provided us with this documentation, since 1991, then you do not need to provide it again.

If you are using your married name that is not on the above documentation, you will also need to provide a marriage certificate.


International Students

You need to fill in the International Student Application Form.

You will be required to provide a copy of your passport and visa.
