On completion of this 34-week fulltime certificate, you will have practical knowledge of working with live sound and basic skills in music theory and performance. You will learn music theory and harmony, music technology, Aotearoa culture and communication skills. You will complete instrumental and performance study and have the opportunity to improve your performance skills.

Entry

  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Be able to demonstrate by audition the musical ability to succeed in the programme
  • Have a minimum of 60 credits at Level 2 or above in NCEA, including literacy or have evidence of Level 2 literacy skills
  • Have a background in music theory or pass an entry test in music theory set by teaching staff

Mature students must:

  • Have a background in music theory or pass an entry test in music theory set by teaching staff
  • Evidence of literacy skills at a minimum of NCEA level 2
  • The ability to demonstrate by audition the musical ability to succeed in the programme

 

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation. You will be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 550.

Qualifications Gained

  • Certificate in Music Production and Performance - Tioriori Level 5
