Quality Management System

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic strives to provide the highest quality learning, support and overall experience for all our students and the communities we serve. To do so means that collectively and individually we continue to maintain and improve on our quality performance.

Students and employers invest significant amounts of time and money to pursue new or higher skill and knowledge levels. Meeting, or exceeding, their reasonable expectations can only be achieved if all the staff of the institution are committed to the institution’s philosophy of quality and put into practice the quality policy and processes in every aspect of their roles.

The Quality Management System (QMS) is not just words, rules or optional standards. It's about shared values and attitudes that enable and encourage staff to have pride and passion in the service they provide and the outcomes achieved, seeking continuous improvement at all times.

The QMS Policies are grouped under 12 standards. These relate to:

  1. Institutional academic quality management
  2. Development and review of qualifications and educational programmes
  3. Financial, administrative and physical resources
  4. Human resources, staff selection, appraisal and development
  5. Student information and admission to programmes
  6. Student guidance and support
  7. Programme delivery
  8. Off-site practical/workplace components
  9. Assessment and moderation
  10. Reporting and certification
  11. Research
  12. Evaluative quality assurance and internal audit and review
