The Blue Lagoon Charitable Trust Scholarship aims to provide help for hearing impaired or deaf people in the Tauranga and Mount Maunganui areas, with education, seminars, workshops, funding for hearing aids, scholarships and communication equipment.

Students will be advised in writing of the outcome of their application. Scholarship grants cover fees and materials and are paid direct to the supplier.

If an applicant does not complete the study they received the scholarship for, the grant must be repaid to the Trust.

The Dillon Scholarship provides financial assistance to people with significant disabilities, who will be undertaking tertiary education. It is operated and funded by BayTrust.

The scholarship was originally established to commemorate the 25th Jubilee of the Trust Bank Movement in the Bay of Plenty region, and was named after the late Ray Dillon, former Chairman of the Trust Bank Bay of Plenty Board. Mr Dillon was well known for his active support of many community activities.

The value of the scholarship is at the discretion of the Trust, up to $5,000 per annum for 4 years of full-time study. Part-time students may be given a scholarship for up to 5 years.

Funds will be released to successful applicants on receipt of all required documentation and proof of registration at the tertiary institution of their choice. Scholarship recipients are required to forward a brief progress report or their results to the Trust at mid-year and at the close of each academic year.
