Team BOP Polytechnic High Performance Academy Sports Scholarship
The Bay of Plenty Polytechnic High Performance Academy Sports Scholarship Programme aims to provide support for students to achieve a high academic standard in a programme of their choice, whilst seeking excellence in their sporting code.
There are 10 sports scholarships available annually to students studying at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. The scholarships cover full fees, paid for a maximum of two years. In addition, recipients will be granted access to sport and fitness facilities at Te Pare a Ruahine, as well as access to a high performance manager for education, sporting and lifestyle support. Successful students are also allocated 10 hours per annum access to sports support services such as sports science, testing, and lifestyle support. They will also be given a High Performance Academy kit, consisting of track suit and t-shirt.
- Open to all current and prospective students of the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic
- Open to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents only
- Open to students participating in a sport that is recognised on the SPARC list of recognised national sports organisations
The recipient will be selected based on their application clearly demonstrating:
- academic achievement
- meeting the entry criteria for the programme of their choice
- significant sporting achievement to date and potential to further excel in their sporting code
- leadership qualities
The applicant will be required to provide a brief written supporting statement on why they would like the opportunity to take up the study award, as well as two written references, one of which should be from their coach.
Applicants should attach evidence such as photocopies of exam results, reports and references etc. to their application.
Consideration of the suitability of applications will also be subject to the polytechnic's capability in conjunction with local agencies, to provide access to facilities and support appropriate to the applicant's chosen sport.
