This specialist qualification is required to qualify for the professional membership of the New Zealand Society of Conveyancers.

Content Overview

In this online programme you will learn about the laws and systems governing property, land, finance, commerce, resource management and contracts. Skills will also be developed in the administration of estates, client care and dispute resolution.
 

Content Details

The Diploma in Conveyancing comprises of six courses at the 500 level and six courses at the 600 level: 

  • The New Zealand Legal System
  • Law and Professional Practice
  • Business and Commercial Law
  • Land Law
  • Client Care and Dispute Resolution
  • Legal Entities and Contract Law
  • The Administration of Estates
  • Revenue and Finance Law
  • Resource Management, Building Law and Local Government
  • Conveyancing Practice
  • Business Law
  • Land Registration

Cross Credits 
If you are holding the New Zealand Legal Executive Certificate or a New Zealand Diploma in Business, you will gain cross credits towards the Diploma in Conveyancing. If you are studying or holding other law or property related qualification are invited to apply for credit transfer on a case by case basis.
 

Entry Criteria

Over 20 years : Open

Under 20 years:
Year 12 School Leavers /Year 12 qualifications:

  • 50 credits at Level 2 or above with at least 12 credits in Mathematics, English and one other subject, including a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Maori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing.

Year 13 School Leavers /Year 13 qualifications:

  • A minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 or higher, including a minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects; and 12 credits in Mathematics at Level 2 or higher; 4 credits at Level 2 or above in reading; and 4 credits at Level 2 or above in writing.

English Language Requirements
If you are an overseas student or a new resident and English is not your first language, please note that study at tertiary level requires both written and oral participation. You may be required to have an IELTS score of 6 or a TOEFL score of 550.

  • Diploma in Conveyancing Level 6
