Seafood is New Zealand's fifth largest export product, earning $1.26 billion per year and supporting more than 26,000 full-time jobs around the country. Our seafood, aquaculture and maritime programmes can lead you into employment in a range of careers in the industry.

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic also offers industry programmes, designed specifically to help you study while you work and improve your qualifications at the same time. Industry programmes have flexible start times and our staff will come and visit, teach and assess you in your workplace!

Certificate in Maritime & Fishing Technology Level 3

If a life on the sea is the life for you this course of study could be just the ticket. National Certificate in Seafood Vessel Operations (Nautical Skills) - Advanced Deckhand (F) Level 3

Advanced Deckhand (with Fishing Endorsement) is the first step on the ladder to a qualification in the New Zealand fishing industry. General Radio Telephone Operator's Certificate

This programme is suitable for radio operators using single side band or VHF ship radio stations.
