Ako Awe provides a range of learning support for students. Ako Awe is made up of two strands – Ako Ātea and Ako Awhina.
Here's how we provide support for you
Ātea is a learning and social space for students.
There are Ako Ātea located at both campuses and online services are also available.
Here you will find:
- Help Desks - friendly staff to help you
- Library collection
- Computer suites
- PCs and laptops
- Group study rooms
- Quiet study space
- Cafes and meeting places
From Ako Ātea, students can make appointments with staff for 1-1 learning and library support.

If you are struggling with your finances, there's lots of useful information on Financial Support including how to apply for hardship assistance.
If you need help with your studies, you have access to friendly Learner Facilitators who provide a range of learning support including: academic writing, study skills, understanding questions, essay and report writing, time management, referencing, computing, mathematics, and Tikanga Maori. Students can book 1-1 or small group sessions.
Disability Support - if you need some extra help with your studies, the Equity / Disability Service is available to assist.
