New Zealand Certificate in Baking (Generalist) (Level 4)
This one year programme teaches you the fundamentals of commercial baking in our purpose-built kitchens. You'll learn craft baking skills, food safety, kitchen operations, and the production of baking for commercial sale.
Working in teams, you’ll learn to produce good quality cakes, bread, biscuits, pies and other baked goods which will be sold in our on-site café to real customers.
Baking as a profession is more popular than ever and is currently on New Zealand’s skill shortage list.

Classes are scheduled for Monday 8am-12pm, Tuesday 8am-4pm, Wednesday 8am-12pm and Thursday 8am-4pm. - NCEA Level 2 OR a New Zealand qualification in Level 3 Baking or Cookery
- Domestic applicants aged 20 years or above who do not meet the academic entry requirements above, but whose skills, education or work experience indicate that they have a reasonable chance of success, may be eligible for special admission
Students will be required to attend an information meeting on application to ensure they are well informed about the programme, and understand the practical and physical demands of working in a commercial kitchen environment and that classes will be timetabled in early morning and evenings.

On entry you will need either Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 4 with the Academic endorsement, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules (Rule 18) – The Table.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTSInternational applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years, before being eligible to enrol in any non-English programme. The level of competency required is outlined in Rule 18 and Appendix 2 of the NZQF Programme and Accreditation Rules 2013. And below under the title English Competency.
Level 4 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language L3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in Rule 18 and Appendix 2 of the NZQF Programme and Accreditation Rules 2013.
